AL IAQUINTA WINS USKBA AMATEUR THAIBOXING SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT EAST COAST CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE
|
 |
|

Super Middleweight (160-166.9 lbs) - Thaiboxing
USKBA Amateur Thaiboxing Super Middleweight East Coast Championship Title:
Al Iaquinta (Miletich NY)
vs.
Valentin Stratichuk (Borodin's muay thai gym)
Round 1 opens up with the two fighters feeling each other out. Iaquinta gets a takedown. When they get back to their feet, Stratichuk throws a spinning back kick and Iaquinta takes him down again. Iaquinta dominates the round as he scored frequently with accurate striking and takedowns.
Round 2 was dominated by Iaquinta as he used Stratichuk as a human heavy bag to practice leg kicks. Stratichuk's leg is starting to look an STD; red, blotchy, and just screwed!
Round 3 is much of the same with Iaquinta putting on a striking clinic, attacking Stratichuk's legs while his coach Dave is screaming "THE LEG, ATTACK THE LEG!" Stratichuk is limping and favoring the leg. The crowd is really into this fight as the round comes to an end.
IAQUINTA wins by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

COMBAT IN THE CAGE LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
|
 |
|
David Price (Team Steele)-blue
vs.
Al Iaquinta (Miletich NY)-red
Let me start off by saying holy shit! Fight of the night honors right here!
The first thing that is immediately noticeable is that Prince looks about 15 years older than Iaquinta.
Round 1 opens with Price taking Iaquinta’s back. Price sinks in a rear naked choke and it is not looking good for Iaquinta. The choke looks deep and I would say I was surprised that he didn’t tap but I’ve seen him fight before so I’m actually not surprised at all. At this point, I could not believe that Iaquinta was not unconscious. Just as I am almost out of air from holding my breath, Iaquinta escapes. Iaquinta gets a huge slam and closes with a series of punches to end the round.
Round 2 opens with Iaquinta landing a series of good punches on his feet. Price is hurt. The two wind up on the ground and Iaquinta controls the action. Iaquinta stands up and lets Price up. Iaquinta gets poked in the eye. It looks bad. The Doctor is sent in to check. Eventually, the fight is restarted. Iaquinta attacks Price with a vengeance as he unleashes a furious series of pin point accurate, hard, and lightning fast punches. Prince goes flying across the ring as Iaquinta knocks him out.
Iaquinta retains the belt! I was really impressed with Iaquinta’s composure, heart, and ability to overcome adversity. At the age of 20, he fights with the composure of a much older fighter. This guy is going to get better with time and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we see him in the IFL or WEC one day.
Al Iaquinta wins at 2:07 of round 2 by knock out.

APRIL 21, 2007 - NAGA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - JERSEY CITY, NJ
Congratulations to the NEXT GENERATION of Miletich NY fighters!
|
 |
Ceasar, Joey and Jack (Team Miletich) won gold medals in their respective weight classes at the NAGA World Championships. All 3 students have been training for just over 7 months, yet this did not effect the outcome. This was each fighters first competition, and they all entered the fights at a higher level than that of kids with the same experience. Instead of entering at the Novice level, our fighters went up a division and entered at the Beginner level, dominating the competition. All matches were won by submission.

MARCH 31, 2007 - EXTREME CHALLENGE TRIALS: MAYHEM IN MAHWAH - MAHWAH, NJ
Congratulations to Al Iaquinta and Anthony Abatelli!
|
 |
Super Middleweight (160-166.9 lbs)
Anthony Abatelli (Team Miletich) defeated Justin Porter (Team AFS-The Asylum)
Unanimous Decision after 3 rounds
Anthony Abatelli of the talented Miletich N.Y. camp came out to Du Hast by Ramstein. I’m not sure what Du Hast translates to in English, but my guess is going to be “I’m going to get in the cage and slam you on your head.” The first textbook slam came quickly in round one and they kept on coming. It was a totally dominating performance by the rising young star that fought in only the second fight of his career.

Extreme Challenge Trials Super Welterweight Championship (147-153.9 lbs)
Al Iaquinta (Team Miletich) defeated Nick Mauriello (NJ Pride)
Unanimous Decision after 5 rounds
Al Iaquinta brought home the Extreme Challenge Trials Super Welterweight Championship belt by defeating Nick Mauriello. Team Miletich N.Y. ended its night with another dominating performance. Iaquinta put the pressure on early and maintained a high level of intensity throughout the fight. Mauriello was taken down almost at will. Iaquinta did not sit down after the bell in any round and looked as fresh in round 5 as he did when the first bell rang. I have never seen stamina like that before. This kid could have went 10 rounds and slept with the ring girl and still would have been able to blow balloon animals to scale of Wrigley Field. Hey, even Vince Vaughn couldn’t do both! Look out for this 19 year old, he is only getting better. I have a feeling if striking to the head was allowed on the ground; Mauriello would have gone to a steakhouse after the fight… for an eye patch.
